Subject; West Michigan Truck Show.
The big rides rolled through west Michigan last weekend and the trail up
US-131 and I-96 shows the evidence of their loud pipes, hot chrome, and
bright lights. We had a true western party, western Michigan that is. The
Western Michigan Truck Show at Great Lakes Downs in Muskegon Mi. proved to
be everything we expected and more for a 1st year show. This event was
produced by Kirksey and Associates Inc. and the truck judging was sanctioned
by N.A.S.T (The National Assoc. of Show Trucks). This years show had 49
competitive trucks and even more displayed by dealerships and sales outlets.
The Best of Show Combo award was picked up by a young man who has spent
considerable time and energy prepping his Classic 359 Peterbilt. Jeremy
Hassevoort and his 1986-359 Pete with 2001 Utility Reefer trailer are not
strangers to the winners circle. This is one of the finest old school
Peterbilts we have seen in a while.
The Best of Show Bobtail was corralled by that Hot Rod Pete from
Webberville Mi. Rick Hitchcock and his wife Jennifer have done it again.
They’re the team to beat this year. They have raised the stakes in
competition an dare to take on all challengers. This guy makes it look easy.
There is nothing easy about winning Best of Show Non-Working, However,
Bill
Morgan of Willis Mi. raked in an impressive win with his T-800 Kenworth.
This truck is a consistent crowd pleaser with it’s Western Styled Murals and
enough lights and stainless steel to start his own chrome shop.
The Truck-Lite Trophy Series Qualifier for this event was awarded to
Rabbit
River. Jeremy received his award from Mrs. Jamie Lindemuth of Truck-Lite
Company Inc. This Truck-Lite Shootout in Louisville next spring is truly
shaping up to be worthy of the prizes they will win. There will be at least
$8000.00 up for grabs to the champions. N.A.S.T would like to invite
everyone to our next event in Indianapolis Ind. On Aug 24 -26. For a
complete list of all the winners go to the NAST website,
